What is microneedling with radiofrequency (RF)?

Microneedling with radiofrequency (a.k.a. RF microneedling) is a minimally invasive, non-surgical skin rejuvenation technique that can treat a variety of skin concerns such as uneven skin tone and texture, fine lines and wrinkles, large pores, and poor facial skin laxity.

The microneedling device creates small areas of damage within the dermis to stimulate the natural healing response and collagen production, while the radiofrequency energy waves gently heat the dermis and encourage collagen/elastin growth and skin tightening.

What cosmetic concerns does a microneedling with radiofrequency procedure treat?

Microneedling with radiofrequency combines mechanical cell breakdown, new collagen production stimulation, and the benefits of radiofrequency (RF) energy.

  1. Fine Lines & Wrinkles:
Microdamage and RF energy stimulates collagen and elastin to plump skin.
  2. Facial Skin Laxity:
Microneedling increases the production of collagen and elastin to tone and tighten skin.
  3. Uneven Skin Tone:
Hyperpigmented collections are broken down to be recycled via microneedling with RF stimulation of cell growth.
  4. Acne Scars: Microneedles break down scar tissue.
  5. Stretch Marks: Microdamage breaks down old cells and RF energy promotes new cell growth.

Who is the ideal candidate for a microneedling with radiofrequency procedure?

The ideal candidate for a microneedling with radiofrequency procedure is seeking to improve the appearance of burn scarring, other traumatic scars, or acne scars. Microneedling with radiofrequency is safe for darker skin individuals in contrast to many other skin rejuvenation techniques. Microneedling with radiofrequency is not recommended for individuals who have taken Accutane in the past six months, those with open wounds or skin infections, anyone who has undergone a radiation treatment in the past year, skin types prone to keloid scarring, or women who are pregnant or breastfeeding.

What is the average recovery associated with a microneedling with radiofrequency procedure?

Most patients experience minimal downtime, and fully recover within seven days following a microneedling with radiofrequency treatment. Redness, shedding, and dryness are common during healing and resolve within a few days. Considerations on strenuous activities and skincare should be taken for a few days.

What to Expect
